I honestly knew nothing of any of these people until after I joined tumblr, and it’s been an education. I’ve seen the way the people my age and a little older who’ve risen to the top of their professions have become successful, and it turns my stomach. Don’t they have any integrity? Don’t they care that anyone outside their own little world thinks they’re idiots, creeps, sell-outs, and worse? Don’t they care that the “intellectual” contribrutions they’re making won’t matter in a week, much less in a couple of years? Don’t they care that because the only thing they’re known for is being a bunch of shallow, backbiting, well-dressed young people, in two years they’ll probably not only be irrelevant, but also unemployable?
